----- ---------徐洪波 Xu Hongbo------ ------ ------ ------- ---------- ----------- ------------- -------- -------- --------------- ----------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ ----------------- *有关《克隆》:我们身处的这个工业化互联网信息商业消费时代,在我看来最主要的特征就是“复制”,量的复制的社会意义似乎远超过质。因为从某个角度说“量”似乎是绝对的,而所谓“质”是相对的,或许不同的人对“质”有不同的理解和要求,而作为数字的量似乎是大家公认的指标。这也是这个主体失却的时代泛民主化的一个特点,也是超女现象以及近期的新世界七大奇迹网络投票玩转全球一亿人的原因。克隆技术和克隆人是这一背景下的“顺理”和极端的产物,可以被我用来作为表达当今和未来人类自身生存状态的一个象征性视觉符号。陶瓷工艺和装置手段的有效利用也使这一想法与材料、技术得以统一,正如我有意和无意的需要。------ 徐洪波 2007/7/27 ----------- ---------
*About 《Clones》:In our age of information, high-speed internet and industrial production, it appears to me that the most important characteristic is that of “Reproducing”. There seems to be greater value placed on “Quantity” over “Quality”. Perhaps it is because “Quantity” seems absolute while “Quality” seems relative. Different people define “Quality” in different ways; “Quantity” is more objective, a measurable standard that all can agree upon. The quantity—the mass—becomes what counts and determines the inherent value. We see this from the results of “China Super Girl”and “The New 7 Wonders of the World” that appealed to one hundred million people worldwide by getting them to vote on the internet. Cloning for human beings is even considered “reasonable”and an extreme outcome along the same lines. I use this as a symbol for my works to show the conditions of our times. What is more, the technique of ceramics and the way of installing blend together the ideas, means and materials, to produce both what I desire and what is unexpected.------ Xu Hongbo 27/7/2007
